“GOOD is the enemy of GREAT”

*The following notes were taken from Revival services on 4/21/2013 with Pastor Gary Vick.

We are too satisfied with things being good and settling for good when God wants us to be GREAT and do GREAT things! In order to move from good to great it will cost you something.

Jeremiah 1:4,5- “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you, before you were born I set you apart;I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Before we were even born, God ordained us for GREAT things!

Great churches are not limited to just good programs and do not always make common sense. Great churches require servant hood.

Comparing the Good to great  attitudes:

1) Good-care about community, but do not feel the need  to invest a lot of their time and resources investing in the community

Great- will do anything to reach out to the community, put their walk and their talk into action!

2) Good- want to serve and please God, but not as much as wanting to please man.

Great-wants to serve and please God no matter what people think ( do not put people’s opinion)

3) Good- does “good things” just to be doing things

Great- recognizes that not all good things are of God

4) Good- have good messages, programs and good people, they rely on people more than on God

Great- have good messages, but focus on the great, looking for opportunities to bring people to God
